Techniques Of Courting II

Glorfindel couldn't get enough of Erestor. He devoured Erestor's

willing mouth, holding his writhing body against his own. When the

lack of air finally forced them apart, Glorfindel looked into the dark

eyes he loved so much. His heart fell as he noticed that they didn't

shine with happiness. Instead, Erestor stared at him stunned, and

Glorfindel could see that he was at verge of tears.

"Why did you do that, Glorfindel?" Erestor finally asked, his voice

trembling with emotions. In one, fleeting moment Glorfindel had

managed to break down all the barriers he had built around his heart

and he felt highly vulnerable. What if Glorfindel had only toyed with

him? What if Glorfindel had kissed him only because of some jest, even

if he himself had never felt anything this divine? Still, he couldn't

pull back, but leaned into the warm embrace, desperate to prolong

their closeness. Erestor trembled as Glorfindel cupped his face,

making their gazes meet. This time, those beautiful blue eyes weren't

full of mirth, but they were so sad that Erestor swallowed.

"I don't know what to do. Do you want me to go?" Glorfindel asked,

unsure. For so long he had tried to reach Erestor, to gain his trust;

but obviously he had failed completely. He had loved Erestor for

years, but the councillor had always brushed Glorfindel's attempts to

woo him aside. Kissing had been Glorfindel's last hope to tell how he

felt, but it was obvious that Erestor didn't welcome his advances.

With a heavy heart, Glorfindel released Erestor and turned to leave,

but a soft plea stopped him.

"Saes, don't. I want you to stay. I just... just tell me that you

really meant it."

Glorfindel hesitated for a moment, but finally decided that he

couldn't turn back now. By kissing Erestor he had changed their

relationship for good. Maybe, if he opened his heart to his beloved,

Erestor would understand. Glorfindel took Erestor's hand and gently

led him to sit on the couch. It gave him some courage that Erestor

didn't resist but sat beside him.

"I don't know what to say, Erestor. I am not an advisor; I am not as

eloquent as you. I know warfare, and I know how to train soldiers, but

with you I feel like a mere elfling. Still, you attract me like no one

ever before," Glorfindel said softly, and for the first time he felt

that Erestor really listened to him. The advisor even seemed slightly

different; for the first time, Glorfindel saw Erestor unsure and

vulnerable, and all this made his longing grow.

"I had no idea you felt in that way. I can only say that you are not

the only one who is confused. You are so full of light and joy but

I... I am not any of those things. I have only a few friends and no

one has ever..." Erestor tried to explain, but he couldn't say his

painful secret aloud. No one had ever wooed him; no one had even

expressed any interest in a deeper relationship with him. Behind the

stern facade, Erestor was very lonely.

"Erestor. To me, you are the most beautiful creature I have ever seen.

And from the very first moment I have wanted you as my own. I am sorry

if this displeases you. Just say the word, and we will speak about

this no more."

Erestor couldn't believe his ears. Did Glorfindel really think him

beautiful? Shyly, he met Glorfindel's gaze and his heart started to

race when he saw the emotions that shone in them: hope, but also fear

he saw in them, and even more.

"Do you really mean what I think you...mean?" Erestor breathed and

leaned into Glorfindel's touch as he gently caressed his cheek. He

didn't resist as Glorfindel pulled him closer, but rested his head

against the strong shoulder.

"Would you let me court you, Erestor? I've tried, but you have always

thought my attempts to be jest," Glorfindel asked, knowing that this

was his last chance. Erestor felt good in his arms; so good, that he

didn't want to let him go ever again.

"I had no idea, Glorfindel. I may be eloquent, but obviously I can be

a deaf and blind oaf too," Erestor sighed. "But no more. I want you to

court me."

"I will. But this time I want it to be different. You cannot brush me

aside so easily this time and I don't want to see you belittle your

attractiveness, Erestor. I am with you because I want you and no one

else."

Erestor's gaze hit on the red rose that still lay on his desk, and

then back to Glorfindel's face.

"I will try. And I can begin my learning by thanking you properly of

that beautiful flower you gave me," he whispered and pulled Glorfindel

into soft kiss.

FIN.
